CHOOSE THE ACCESS MODEL

Cloud, on-premises, or wireless expansion?

The right model follows your identity workflow, door conditions, number of locations, cybersecurity requirements, integrations, network reliability, credential strategy, and the people responsible for daily administration.

Cloud-managed

Browser administration, mobile credentials, remote door management, and centralized policy across individual facilities or a multi-site portfolio.

On-premises

Locally managed software and controllers for organizations with established infrastructure, specialized integrations, or defined ownership requirements.

Wireless + hybrid

Extend managed access to interior rooms, guest doors, cabinets, lockers, and other openings where conventional homerun wiring is impractical.

THE COMPLETE CONTROLLED OPENING

Software alone does not secure a door.

Reliable access control depends on every physical, electrical, network, and administrative layer working together.

  1. Identity, permissions, schedules, and credentials
  2. Readers, controllers, network, power, and batteries
  3. Locks, strikes, exit devices, closers, and power transfer
  4. Door position, request-to-exit, alarms, and life-safety interfaces
  5. Programming, testing, documentation, training, and support
ACCESS CONTROL FAQ

Answers buyers and facility teams ask first.

What equipment is included in a commercial access-control system?

A complete opening can include management software, credentials, readers, controllers, enclosures, power supplies and batteries, locks or strikes, door-position switches, request-to-exit devices, cabling, fire-alarm interfaces, network connectivity, programming, testing, training, and documentation.

Should access control be cloud-managed or on-premises?

Cloud platforms can simplify remote administration and multi-site operations. On-premises systems can support local ownership, specialized integrations, and existing enterprise standards. Wireless and hybrid designs can extend either model. The right architecture depends on identity, cybersecurity, connectivity, integrations, policy, and lifecycle responsibility.

Can Terapixels reuse existing readers, locks, or controllers?

Often, but every component must be identified and tested. Reuse depends on manufacturer support, credential technology, encryption keys, reader protocol, controller generation, licensing, wiring, power, door condition, life-safety behavior, and compatibility with the selected platform.

Why is a door survey required before pricing access control?

Two doors that look similar can have different frames, latch hardware, fire ratings, egress requirements, power-transfer needs, closer conditions, and pathway limitations. A door survey prevents software and readers from being specified without a workable physical opening.

Can access control integrate with video, intercom, and identity systems?

Yes, when the selected products and software versions support the required integration. Common workflows include video associated with door events, visitor entry, directory synchronization, mobile credentials, elevator control, intrusion events, and centralized multi-site administration.
